When these girls (my step daughter’s kids) came to live with me, we had a lot to overcome. It’s a work in progress. BTW We have three beds in their bedroom but I often find them snuggled up in the same bed.

What you don’t see in this video is the feelings felt. Earlier in the day I had brought this sweet little vintage wall sconce home from an antique store and they were so enamored with it. They didn’t say it in so many words, but I could tell in their body language and how they wanted to show others their new lamp.

They’d never had a room of their own and I’ve been slowly working on making this a space they love. (This used to be my two oldest girls’ bedroom.)

The work you do day in and day out matters to the people who live within the walls of your home. The atmosphere you create, the love you share, the effort you put into each day: it matters.

➡️ As a homemaker, my daily routine is filled with numerous tasks, ranging from cooking meals, doing laundry, cleaning the house, and taking care of my family. With such a busy schedule, it’s essential to prioritize my time and energy wisely. That’s why I must be mindful of how much time I spend on things like social media or consuming other types of media.

If I use up my precious and limited hours of the day sifting through a barrage of information, however helpful it may be, I’ll have less and less time to devote to the things that truly matter most. Creative pursuits such as learning a new recipe, painting a room, or sewing curtains, require focused attention and cannot be rushed. Engaging in meaningful conversations with family members or friends is essential for building strong bonds and maintaining healthy relationships. Similarly, connecting with my home by tending to plants, tidying up, or even redecorating requires time and energy.

It’s easy to get lost in the endless stream of information that is readily available online. However, it’s important to remember that real life is happening all around us, and we must prioritize our time accordingly. By setting boundaries on our screen time and making a conscious effort to be present in our daily lives, we can create more space for the things that truly matter and build a more fulfilling and satisfying home life.
