As a homemaker, it can feel like there’s a milli As a homemaker, it can feel like there’s a million things each day that you HAVE to do.

You have to cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You have to clean the kitchen.
You have to do the laundry.
You have to take the kids to school.
You have to sweep the floors.
You have to run errands.

The list could go on and in. But the truth is, you don’t HAVE to do any of those things.

You WANT to.

You WANT to be the kind of mom who feeds your kids. You WANT to be the kind of wife who picks up the dry cleaning. You WANT to be the kind of homemaker who makes sure the dishes are clean and the toilets are scrubbed. You WANT to be the kind of woman who takes care of responsibilities.

* You WANT to make a home.*

You deserve to be that kind of homemaker. Your family deserves that kind of wife and mom.
If you want a happy home, you need to do this one If you want a happy home, you need to do this one thing. ⬇️

❤️ Prioritize people over things. 🙌

You can have a beautiful home, but if your attitude is harsh, impatient, critical, disrespectful, or indifferent, you’ll never create an atmosphere that welcomes people to be their authentic selves.

Families need homemakers. Homemakers who value relationship over everything else. Home should be a haven where everyone feels safe to love, learn, and grow.

This one change in your perspective, this one shif This one change in your perspective, this one shift in your mindset can greatly affect how you view your work at home.

Shifting your perspective in homemaking from “I have to…” to “I get to…” is transformative.

Saying (or thinking) “I have to…” implies obligation and burden, while “I get to…” signifies privilege and opportunity.

Instead of seeing homemaking as a mere chore, the latter frame allows us to recognize the honor in shaping our living spaces, nourishing our families, and curating moments of joy.

This simple reframing reminds us that many of our daily tasks are, in essence, acts of love and devotion.

By embracing the mindset of “I get to”, we not only infuse positivity into our routines, but we also elevate the everyday into moments of gratitude and fulfillment.

I want to encourage you to practice saying “I get to” and see the mundane becomes so much more meaningful.

The work you do at home matters. It’s not just a The work you do at home matters. It’s not just about keeping things tidy; it’s about creating a sanctuary where memories are made and love flourishes. 🏡❤️

When these girls (my step daughter’s kids) came to live with me, we had a lot to overcome. It’s a work in progress. BTW We have three beds in their bedroom but I often find them snuggled up in the same bed.

What you don’t see in this video is the feelings felt. Earlier in the day I had brought this sweet little vintage wall sconce home from an antique store and they were so enamored with it. They didn’t say it in so many words, but I could tell in their body language and how they wanted to show others their new lamp.

They’d never had a room of their own and I’ve been slowly working on making this a space they love. (This used to be my two oldest girls’ bedroom.)

The work you do day in and day out matters to the people who live within the walls of your home. The atmosphere you create, the love you share, the effort you put into each day: it matters.
